Giving Cryptocurrency through Coinbase
Coinbase makes it simple to give using Bitcoin, Ethereum, USD Coin, and other supported cryptocurrencies. You can send a crypto gift anywhere Coinbase operates, often in minutes, and it may offer tax advantages when given to a qualified U.S. 501(c)(3) nonprofit, such as Kingdom Culture Ministries International.

Why Give with Coinbase?
-
Global reach: Send from anywhere Coinbase operates.
-
Fast delivery: Most transfers arrive within minutes.
-
Potential tax benefits: Donating appreciated crypto to a U.S. nonprofit may allow you to deduct the fair market value and avoid capital gains tax.
-
Multiple currencies accepted: Give in Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), USD Coin (USDC), and other supported assets.
-
No currency conversion: Send in the crypto of your choice without extra exchange steps.
Gift Amounts & Limits
Coinbase does not have a universal sending limit. Your limit depends on your account verification level, location, and transaction history. Higher verification levels generally allow larger gifts; new or unverified accounts may have lower limits.
As a reference, fiat (cash) withdrawals from Coinbase are often capped at around $25,000/day, but crypto transfer limits can be higher. If you need to send more than your current limit, request an increase under Profile & Settings → Limits → Apply for increase.
Other Things to Know Before Sending
-
Transactions are final: Once sent, cryptocurrency cannot be reversed.
-
Value can change quickly: The USD amount your gift represents may fluctuate until it is received.
-
Network fees: Small blockchain fees may apply and slightly reduce the amount received.
-
Receipts: Coinbase does not issue donation receipts directly. We will provide you with an official acknowledgment for your records—just be sure to send us your full name, email, and transaction details if they are not included in the memo.
Gift Tax Notes
In 2025, you may give up to $19,000 worth of cryptocurrency per recipient without filing a gift tax return. In 2026, this annual exclusion is expected to adjust for inflation. Gifts above the annual limit may require filing IRS Form 709, though most do not trigger immediate tax owed. For personal guidance, please consult a qualified tax professional. This is not tax or financial advice.
